Stephen J. Schechter focuses his practice in Boerne, on mediation (family and civil) with a settlement rate of over 95% and also has developed a general private practice with an emphasis on family law, business, and litigation. Steve serves clients in Boerne, San Antonio, Kerrville and all of the Hill Country. He received a B.A. in business administration and political science from Trinity University in 1985 and his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1989. He is a member of the State Bar Family Law Section, Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. Steve is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association, Kendall County Bar Association, Texas Family Law Foundation and the State Bar of Texas Foundation. He has received his TDFPS/CPS Certification. Steve served as a volunteer mediator at the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center (2007–09) and currently serves as a volunteer mediator for the San Antonio and Hill Country Dispute Resolution Centers. In 2013, he was named Outstanding Third Year Director for his service on the Board of Directors for the State Bar of Texas. Steve and his wife, Alyssa, have two sons, Nathan and Benjamin.
Casey A. Barthel graduated in 1992 from West Texas A&M with a BBA in General Business (Magna Cum Laude). She received her law degree in 1997 from Texas Tech University School of Law (Magna Cum Laude), where she was an Articles Editor for the Law Review. In addition to being licensed in Texas, Casey is licensed in New Mexico, where she worked until moving to Boerne in 2005. Casey is a member of the Kendall County Bar Association and currently serves on its Board of Directors. She is also a member of the State Bar College, which is an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best trained attorneys in Texas. Casey is very active in the Boerne community and serves as Assistant Chairman of the Ambassador Council of the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce. Casey focuses her practice on estate planning and business law. She authored the limited liability company forms in the Texas Business Organizations Manual published by the State Bar of Texas.
